RULES:
To reload, shoot off the screen. Remember, some weapons can't be reloaded... If you are shot, you lose a life and your special weapon if you have one. Don't shoot the good guys. Shooting a good guy will count against your score and you lose a life. Projectiles can be shot to destroy them and eliminate their threat. Projectiles are the things that you can see coming at you: grenades, missiles, and discarded gatling guns. Bullets can't be stopped. Better learn to shoot faster. Powerups are found in plain sight. They aren't hidden like Virtua Cop. Shoot a powerup to pick it up. You can shoot most bad guys twice more after neutralizing them, which gives you more points. In Virtua Cop, this would be the 3-shot bonus. POWERUPS: Revolver: Not actually a powerup, but what the hell. Your standard weapon. Nothing special about it. Full clip holds 7 bullets. Hey sweet! You never lose this weapon. And just so you know, revolvers that carry 7 bullets DO exist. Double Rig: Twice the firepower of the revolver. Each time you pull the trigger, 2 shots are fired. Full clip is 12 bullets, which equals 6 'shots'. Not too impressive, but hey. Machine gun: Allows for continuous firing as long as you hold down the trigger. Full clip holds 30 bullets, I think. Hey, you try counting the bullets in the middle of a shootout. Can not be reloaded. Assault Rifle: Fires a burst of 3 bullets each time you pull the trigger, usually. Sometimes it doesn't. Good for getting extra hits or taking down more than one guy. Just watch for innocents. Full clip holds 24 bullets, which equals 8 'shots,' give or take. AND, unlike VC, you can reload it. Shotgun: This baby sprays death over a very wide range. Just make sure no civilians happen to occupy that space as well. Full clip is 5 shells. Too bad it only appears once. Magnum Bullets: Fires powerful shots capable of going through targets. Unlike VC, the bullets don't seem to be able to penetrate inanimate objects as far as I can tell. Dirty Harry would be dissapointed. BAD GUYS: Generic: The standard, garden variety bad guy. Unless otherwise stated, assume this is the kind of bad guy you face. They carry a wide range of weapons: pistols, machine guns, shotguns, and rifles. They all behave the same way. With some exceptions, these guys must be killed to proceed. Knife Wielder: These guys are the equivalent of the axe guys from Virtua Cop. These guys appear at close range, slash you, and then vanish (if not shot.) Extra: These are the guys that don't attack you. They pose no threat to you, and they only appear for a short time, running across the screen and whatnot. Shoot them for extra kills. MY TIPS: There aren't many innocents in this game, and they are usually easy to pick out. So go nuts. If you have a Magnum, be careful when civilians are on the screen. There are a few spots where you have to shoot an enemy early or shoot an enemy in an odd area (like the leg) in order to prevent killing the hostage behind him/her. The game likes to be cheap and has enemies standing behind other enemies. Therefore, the guy in front can absorb an additional bullet or two, allowing the shielded villain to fire first. The Magnum will blow right through everyone in its path, but if you don't have one, either try unloading and hope one gets through or see if you can use precision shooting to take them out. The Rifle is pretty much the best weapon in my opinion, and the Magnum comes close if you can exercise caution. They help you deal with with the aforementioned cheap tactics. There are no lock-ons like in Virtua Cop, so you'll won't know who is your biggest threat in a mob of shooters. However, common sense will tell you to shoot people who are actually aiming their guns at you first, and ignore people just running in. Similar to Lethal Enforcers, enemies will often duck if you narrowly miss, giving you time to take out the other targets or following up with a killing shot. ABOUT THIS GUIDE: This guide is a pretty rough overview of the game. It is not meant to tell you where EVERY single bad guy is. It is mainly meant to point out the extras, innocents, powerups, and guys likely to surprise you. It also contains area hints and boss tips. When I say bad guy, shooter, enemy, and anything nonspecific, I mean a generic bad guy. Innocents are also referred to as civilians, hostages, and basically anyone I don't refer to as hostile or extra. This guide is written from my solo sessions. I don't know if 2P differs much. CHEATS/UNLOCKABLES: None. Sorry. |
