CARUBA'S MOST WANTED
Play It:
For the Playstation only.

Story:
The president of Caruba has been assassinated, and the shooter is... Richard? Well, of course it isn't, but he sure does look like him. VSSE believes Richard is innocent, and gives him 48 hours to clear his name before they turn him over to the authorities.

Well, that alone is pretty cool. Been done before, but still a cool idea. But then they had to chuck something else in there...

Graphics:
Blargh! These look almost the same as the first! And that came out over 4 years earlier! This could be a testament to the first's one's graphical prowess, or it could be a testament to laziness. I think it is the latter.

Sound:
Again, about the same as the first. A few of the music tracks are recycled from part 1, which is kinda good for nostalgia, but also suck somewhat. However, it is Tommy Tallerico Studios, so it isn't bad at all (is anything by Tommy ever bad?) Many sound effects are recycled as well, including those inept soldier quips. The voice acting is pretty horrific for the most part. Most of the grunt chatter is recycled from part 1, including the ever-appropriate "SHUCKS!"

Difficulty:
Harder than part 1. That still doesn't add up to much, but its still good to see. However, there is no way to increase it other than the Easy/Normal choice of starting a game. Well, I think this is the hardest TC game overall.

Enjoyment:
Well, if you liked Time Crisis, you'll probably like this too. Just be warned, it is a lot like an expansion pack. I don't have a problem with that, but you might. Like the first, only one player.

Replay Value:
Not unless you beat the game on easy the first time...

Rant Session (spoilers):

Well, it has been at least a few years since I rescued Rachel from the castle. So why do I still have this six-shooting pussy of a gun? I ranted about this earlier, so I'll leave it at that.

But what about the story? Where does Project Titan come in? Well, it turns out that Wild Dog is mining titanium to create an army of cyborgs. Cheesy. Oh, and it turns out Xavier Serano is still alive! Of course I already knew since the manual profile stated that he was "missing and presumed assassinated." Fuck, of course he's still alive! Anyway, at this point I was starting to think "the president staged this, and he is in cahoots with the bad guys!" Well, no. Actually, it turns out that he was kept as a hostage instead. Hmmm, that doesn't really fit Wild Dog's MO. This wouldn't happen to be a lame excuse to keep him alive, would it? Heaven forbid someone who isn't a bad guy should die in a TC game. But wait, how in the hell did they pull that off? Staged an assassination of a president and then took him away? What in the hell were the Secret Service doing? Unless you're the doctor, I don't think you'd get within 50 yards of a president after an assassination attempt. Why you would fake an assassination and then kidnap him is beyond me. Wouldn't it be easier to just kidnap him? He also looks pretty good for someone who took a .50 caliber bullet to the chest about a day ago.

Next, Kantaris is in this one. Didn't we already kill her in the Hotel of Death? (well, you SHOULD have) Did she pull a Wild Dog? Or should that be a Joe Fang? You don't kill her here, so I guess this might take place BEFORE the special scenario. Speaking of Wild Dog, he is a total pussy in this one. Good god, who does his voice? (hell, who does anyone's voice in this game?) He wears a red/pink suit, and has red tinted sunglasses. What, did somebody really need to step up and be this entry's fruitcake?

Bottom Line:
This game is really just Time Crisis with new textures, characters, and levels. Kinda like an expansion pack. If you like it (like me), you might not mind. If you're looking for some originality, look elsewhere.
