RULES:
You go through the levels, shooting bad guys as you go, and lots of other things too. This is somewhat simpler than Lethal Enforcers, actually, except for the secrets. Unlike most (if not all) other shooters, you get a health bar instead of a certain amount of lives. Whenever you get hit, you lose a certain amount of health depending on what hit you. Granted, the health difference is minimal, but still... Your standard arsenal is your machine gun with CD launcher. The machine gun spits out rapid fire death and has unlimited ammo, but lacks power. The CD's are much stronger, and are required to break certain things, but you only have a limited number of them, and need to keep up a stash. Projectiles can be shot down to save your health: missiles, flames, axes, spears, grenades, eyeballs, bolts of electricity, and shuriken. You'll encounter hostages (the showgirls) during the game. Free them by shooting the right locations, which are detailed in the walkthrough. You can't accidentally kill them, so go for it. Supply boxes will drop down in various locations of the game. Shoot them to reveal either: 4 silver CD's; gold CD's; Laserdisks; Shields; Superguns; Shakes; and Bombs. However, note that the contents of boxes differ in different areas. For example, you won't find a Bomb (least I never did) in a crate while fighting the boss of Helicopter Joyride. This game adopts a bit of the Area 51 idea. You don't actually have to kill anyone to progress in most areas. You'll simply move on after a certain amount of time has passed. Of course, this will cost you a lot of health, and there are plenty of places where you will need to kill to proceed. At certain times you will be told to "Choose your path!" and be given a few choices; Right, Left, In, or Out (as available). You can find the members of Aerosmith throughout the game. When (if) you find one, you'll get wings. Find them all! At the end of each level, you will get points for how many of each kind of bad guy you killed, how many hostages you saved, how much you destroyed, how many Mammies you got (which will be 0 most of the time. Don't worry about it.), and how many Aerosmith members you found so far. POWERUPS: Silver CD: Adds 4 CD's to your stash. Gold CD: Adds 10 CD's to your stash. Laserdisk: "Fire it up!" Gives you 25 laserdisks. These are fired with the CD button. They are more powerful than regular CD's. They will be fired in place of regular CD's until you run out. Supergun: "I feel good!" Allows for more power for a limited time (in the arcade, you have a limited amount of ammo. For the Playstation, you have unlimited ammo, but you will lose the gun after a certain amount of time has passed.) This is fired in preference over your machine gun. As I said before, more powerful, and a little bit faster too. Shield: "Now you've got protection!" Armor actually, but who cares. This will protect you from a certain amount of hits, during which you won't lose any health. Shake: Restores a good portion of your health. Bomb: "Baby, Ka-Blam!" This will kill any bad guy present on the screen short of an APC, which it will still fuck up pretty good. Mammy Awards: Only found in the last level, so don't look for these elsewhere. These give you major points. Wings: Found by rescuing Aerosmith members. These will multiply your score at the end of a level. If you have one, your score is doubled (because it would be silly to multiply your score by 1, wouldn't it?). If you have all five, your score is multiplied by 6! BAD GUYS: NON Trooper: Cannon fodder. These are your typical storm troopers, found in every level. They attack with machine guns, except for that guy on the bus who throws grenades. However, they often attack in mobs, so they aren't harmless. Some of them have low attention spans, and won't bother to attack you. Consider them free kills. Mostly yellow, but they also come in red, blue, green, orange, and gray flavors. A CD blows them into little pieces. Skate Trooper: Found in Club X, Helicopter Joyride, The Amazon, and Middle East. They carry pistols which are pretty weak. They also carry huge shields which they can use to protect themselves from bullets, although they usually don't use it. There are basically 2 different kinds of these guys; the ones who stand still, and the ones who actually move. The former will use the shield to protect themselves, thus making them harder to kill. However, these guys are easier to deal with since they generally won't attack while hiding behind their shields, and a steady stream of bullets will take them out. The latter actually move, either back and forth, or alongside you. NON Natives: Found in The Amazon and Wembley Stadium. They leap around and throw spears at you. That's really all there is to say about them. CD's will blow them into pieces. Berzerkers: Found in The Amazon and Wembley Stadium. They throw axes at you, and they also appear to be pretending to play guitar with them (check their arm motions!) These guys require a bit of firepower to take down. Everdrones: Found in The Amazon and Wembley Stadium. These guys pack machine guns, and they are also nearly indestructible. Shoot them until they fall, and they'll quickly get back up. The helmets fall off, revealing their ugly ass mugs. A CD will blow them apart and remove them from your life. Also, some (but not all) have tanks on their backs (jetpacks?) Shoot them, and they will go flying off the screen, which also takes care of them. Yellow Jacket: Found in Middle East and Pacific Rim. These guys just stand around and fire off a single bolt of electricity at you as you walk by. However, they'll take a bit of firepower to kill. The absolute lowest threat of all. NON Ninjas: Found in Pacific Rim and Wembley Stadium. These guys throw shuriken (2 at a time, usually) at you, and do flips. Nothing else to say. MY TIPS: Shoot EVERYTHING you possibly can. Hundreds of CD's (literally) can be obtained by destroying items to reveal them. If playing 2P, you can "steal" goodies from the other player (and they can do the same, so watch it.) Notice that when you shoot powerups, they come to you? Well, in 2P, if 1P shoots a powerup and 2P then shoots it, it will instead go to 2P. However, if 1P then shoots it, it will go back to him. You can play a little game of tug-o-war with powerups. Just don't fight each other when you should be fighting the NON... Destroy objects that NON boys hide behind to prevent more from appearing. Don't go too crazy with your CD's. Yes, this seems obvious, but it is so tempting to blow things up... You don't need to be stingy, but save a decent arsenal for bosses. ABOUT THIS GUIDE: This guide gives you a pretty good idea of what you'll face throughout the game. It tells you how to find all the secret areas that I know of (which is about all), where to find all the band members, although that kind of goes with the secrets, and how to deal with the special guys, i.e. bosses. CHEATS/UNLOCKABLES: Well, it turns out there is at least one, as pointed out by one of my friends named Martin. SNES only. Infinite Lives: Hold X + A + B at the title screen. The music will become louder to confirm this. Self-explanatory. |
