RULES:

Shoot the enemies to conserve your life. Otherwise, you MAY be hit. If you are hit, you lose a life. But here's the fun thing; you'll never know when you'll get hit. It's completely random, affected by certain factors. For example, you can survive 5 machine gun-toting guys without a scratch, and then have some guy pop out with a pistol and get you with 1 shot. Even projectiles are not a sure shot, although they are more likely to be. However, the longer a bad guy is alive, the more likely you are likely to be hit. Certain enemies are more likely to hit you. How recently you got hit is also a factor. Getting through without getting hit seems to increase the chances of an enemy getting a hit on the first shot.

While on the subject, projectiles (missiles, Molotov cocktails, etc.) can be shot down to save yourself.

Don't shoot the innocents. Doing so will cost you a life. The penalty is good one time only, so shooting them again before they vanish is free.

Powerups are found throughout the game. Unlike Area 51, they are not hidden in items or revealed by shooting things.

After making a certain amounts of hits on either thugs or destructible without missing, you get a Streak bonus.

POWERUPS:

Normal Handgun: Yeah, not really a powerup. Does minimal damage. Full clip is 8 bullets.

Automatic Rifle: Automatic firing, baby! Full clip is 12 bullets. Wow.

Shotgun: Covers a considerably larger area, and is powerful (not sure if that actually means anything in this game.) Full clip is 6 shells.

BAD GUYS:

Just about everyone: They attack with a wide array of weapons: pistols, shotguns, automatics, rifles, clubs, knives, flamethrowers, and the butts of their rifles. However, they all behave the same way and have no real difference in threat. One shot will put them down.

MY TIPS:

You have a little moment of invincibility after being shot. You can take advantage of this by ignoring bad guys and shooting up items to enter secret rooms. Don't do it too long, though.

Certain groups of enemies are more lethal than others. You can get a feel for who will probably hit you and who won't. However, NOTHING is for certain in this game...

Shotgun or Automatic Rifle? Normally, I'd say the AR. However, I prefer the Shotgun in the home versions since the AR seems to have a little trouble with reloading.

ABOUT THIS GUIDE:

First and foremost, I will not mention the appearance of individual terrorists. They are EVERYWHERE. There is a constant stream of them appearing. This is mainly meant to tell you of the secret rooms and how to enter them. Oh, and how to beat this game. Important note: The secret room information may not be entirely accurate for your version. The Playstation and Saturn versions had extra hidden rooms and some alternate ones from the arcade's. Also, there is an Area 51/Maximum Force Duo pack which boasts extra rooms that I have never played, so I don't know about them. I'm doing the Saturn version, so Saturn owners can rely on this information, and I believe so can Playstation owners.

CHEATS/UNLOCKABLES:

Arcade Mode: Go to the options menu and enter this code: X, Y, X, X, Y, X, X, X, Y, X, X, X, X, Y.
This code also works on the Playstation version, except replace X with Select and Y with Start.
Now, the secret rooms created exclusively for the home version will be replaced with the original arcade secret rooms.
