RULES:
Reload by firing off the screen. You don't need to shoot the spot they indicate on the arcade machine. If you get shot, hit by a knife, knife, dynamite, or a fireball, or slashed, you lose a life as well as any powerups you may have had. Projectiles (knives, dynamite, fireballs, barrels, cannonballs, arrows, and axes) can be shot to neutralize their threats. If you shoot an innocent, you are demoted one rank (I believe it's per innocent) and lose a life. Extra lives in the arcade are earned by getting enough points. The number of points required depends on the difficulty level. Unlike most shooters, this game has some hit detection areas. Generic enemies can be killed by only shot, but if your shot hits one of the legs or arms, the enemy may shrug it off. Not sure, but I believe the offer is good one time only, and the next shot will kill no matter where you hit. Scoring crap: The grading system has changed from the first game. SEGA quotas are gone. At the end of a level, you get graded based on your accuracy % and number of innocents shot (if any.) Your accuracy will determine what rank you get. Very similar to the school system: 100-90%: US Marshal 90-80%: Deputy Marshal 80-70%: Sheriff 70-60%: Deputy 60-0: Posse However, shooting an innocent will drop your rank by one. POWERUPS: Revolver: Not actually a powerup, but what the hey. Pretty weak, no range, and full clip is only 6 bullets. But then again, you never lose it. Rifle: MUCH better than the Rifle in the first one, and a keeper. Nothing special, but full clip is 12 bullets. Slightly bigger radius than the Revolver. Double Rig: Basically the revolver times 2. Fires 2 shots each time the trigger is pulled. Useful if you should narrowly miss or the first shot doesn't kill the guy. Full clip is 12 bullets, which equals 6 shots. .50 Sharp: Like the Rifle, but with a smaller capacity. Full clip is a measly 5 shots. Lame, but at least its not as bad as LE's Rifle. Slightly bigger radius than the Revolver. Shotgun: Now we're talking! This baby sprays death over a very wide range. Just make sure no civilians happen to occupy that space as well. Full clip is 6 shells. Too bad it only appears once. Gatling Gun: Automatic fire, so you can just hold down the trigger for continuous firing. Full clip is 24 bullets, and that is all you get. Not sure, but seems to fire multiple bullets per trigger press (though it doesn't count as such to your bullet supply) since I notice I often kill someone and hit something behind him. Canon: The Grenade Gun in this one. The rounds have quite a radius. However, the rate of fire is a bit slower than the other guns. Full clip is 8 shots, and that's all you get. It's gone after that. Pretty lame, actually. BAD GUYS: Generic Shooter: These guys (and gals) appear everywhere except during boss battles. Shoot them before they plug you. Run And Gunners: Kill these guys ASAP! These guys are MUCH more dangerous than before. They run across the screen while shooting, and will hit you every other step. They can take off 3 lives before you know it. Tough Guy: These guys are just like normal enemies, except they take several shots (at least 3) to kill. Indian: These guys are equipped with bow n' arrows. As you may suspect, they shoot arrows at you. Banditos: AKA knife throwers. So named for their love of throwing knives. Axe Man: These guys pop up point blank and slash you. Banditos who forgot their knives. Dynamite Thrower: Guess what he does? MY TIPS: Its hard to explain, but there is an easy way to recognize friend or foe. Innocents are colored much 'brighter' than the enemies. However, a few bad guys do look a lot like bystanders, so this is not as clear-cut as in part one. Remember, there are female shooters in this game. For those who play a lot of shooters, your instincts will tell you to immediately discount any females as a threat. Worse, the women in the last level can be easily mistaken for innocent due to their exceptional colorfulness Aim for the chest or head to ensure that generic guys won't require a second shot. Always have at least 2 bullets in the clip at any time, and reload if you get a chance. This is my personal rule for all shooters, but here its very important. In case you miss, or merely wound a shooter, or face 2 shooters at once... In my opinion, the Rifle is the best weapon (the Shotgun would be if it appeared more often.) The .50 Sharp is not worth getting over anything except maybe a Canon or Gatling Gun. ABOUT THIS GUIDE: Unlike the first one, this game is the same regardless of version. I won't mention the appearance of generic shooters or innocents unless I have any specific advice to offer. Boss tips and powerup locations are my specialty. CHEATS/UNLOCKABLES: These cheats are for the Sega CD version. I don't know of any others. Enter them at the title screen (when it says to press start.) Be quick, before the demo kicks in. The codes stay active until you turn off the game. Level Select: Press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, C. When you start the game, you will be able to select any of the levels. Blood Code AKA Realistic Mode: Press A, C, B, B, up, up, up, left, left, A, B, C, C. Now, blood appears whenever you shoot a bad guy (or an innocent...) and Fatalities have been restored. Okay, no fatalities, but there is now blood. |
