ESCAPING THE ISHIMURA
Shifting back to Nate's POV, he and Lex are on the tram back...
Lexine: "I still can't believe Dr. Howell's gone... I just wish we could get even one person off, you know?"
McNeill: "I know. There's us 4... We've done okay so far."
The tram stops and they disembark. Nate heads for a terminal.
McNeill: "Wait, first we should find out what floor Bay 47 is on. Weller's probably pissed that we weren't there 15 minutes ago."
Lexine: "You seem to care about him a lot more than he deserves."
McNeill: "It's complicated. Honestly, I think he's enjoying this just because it's something he knows how to do. Hold on, there's an outgoing transmission in progress."
Lexine: "More survivors?"
McNeill: "Could be. It's from Medical."
Lexine: "Oh my god, it's Nicole!"
McNeill: "Nicole, it's McNeill... Listen, we found a shuttle! Wait! Shit, it's one-way. She can't hear us."
Lexine: "What's she doing? What... What? Oh no, Nicole, no!"
McNeill: "No, dammit, Nicole!"
They are helpless to stop Nicole from committing suicide on the transmission...
Lexine: "No!"
McNeill: "I'm sorry. We should go. Let's get out of here."

Open the door, then press the button to go down.

Lexine: "Nicole, Dr. Howell, even my dad, and Sam... What am I, some kind of curse?"
McNeill: "Hey, I'm still here. You can't get rid of me that easily."
Lexine: "I guess not."
McNeill: "Okay Lexine, stick close..."
Lexine: "Something's not right... Weller should have contacted..."
McNeill: "Look out!"

This area is dark, so it's Glow Worm time. A Pregnant comes out of a side room. A couple Stingers come through the vent. Ammo is in the side rooms. Slashers, Stingers, a Pregnant, and 2 Lurkers come out to play. Don't get cocky though, because Slashers, Stingers, Exploders, Pregnants, and a Lurker attack around the corner. Yikes.

Lexine: "Oh god, if those creatures are in here, Weller and Eckhardt..."
McNeill: "They're okay Lex, trust me."

After all that, there's a Line Gun in the left room.

McNeill: "Weller?"
Lexine: "Is this the right bay?"
McNeill: "Definitely. Weller!"

In Free Look Mode, check right for some lockers containing Ammo, a Pulse Rifle, and a Line Gun Upgrade.

Lexine: "Nate!"

You run over to the other side of the bay, where Ammo (or perhaps Small Health) and a Force Gun Upgrade is around. Weller and Warren are still in the control room...

McNeill: "Shit."
Lexine: "He's still breathing. Sergeant, wake up!"
Weller: "Lexine?"
McNeill: "What happened? Eckhardt's dead!"
Weller: "Goddamn traitor killed the doc... And you were right, he was a Unitologist... And he was going to take the shuttle for himself... This isn't a stab wound... The son of a bitch shot me..."
McNeill: "Why? Who cares if he's a Marker-Head? Why would he do that?"
Weller: "I don't know... I think he finally went crazy, like everyone else..."
Lexine: "The shuttle, it can fly, right? We can get out of here?"
Weller: "Yeah, I opened the hatch. The computer just needs to be configured for a manual launch. There is one problem..."
McNeill: "I was afraid you'd say that."
Weller: "The ADS cannon.... Remember that fireworks show we got on the way here?"
McNeill: "Shit."
Weller: "It's okay, I can do it myself."
McNeill: "Like hell. You stay here, I'll go. Where are the controls?"
Weller: "Captain's Nest, off the bridge."
Lexine: "I'm coming with you."
McNeill: "No you're not, not this time. Stay with Weller and prep the shuttle."
Lexine: "But..."
McNeill: "This is nonnegotiable, Lexine. I'm going, and you're staying. Got it?"
Lexine: "Okay."
Weller: "Hey, McNeill... Good luck."

Go back out the door.

??? (Eckhardt): "It's not true, of course... Weller's insane..."
McNeill: "Eckhardt?"
???: "I feel so empty, so hollow..."

As you walk back through the hall, you have another chance to grab anything you missed before. Get back in the elevator.

McNeill: "Okay, Captain's Nest, off the bridge."

When the doors open, you catch a glimpse of a Stinger running past. Oh, there's a Flamethrower and Contact Beam Upgrade right outside the door too. A skittering noise comes from above, so you poke your head into the vents. Great idea. A Stinger scares the crap out of you and you fall down. Stingers, Slashers, Pregnants, Exploders, and Lurkers all pile onto you here.

McNeill: "Trapped!"

More Stingers, Slashers, and an Exploder, Pregnant, and Lurker attack.

McNeill: "Fuck it!"

You jump down a shaft and end up in a room full of bodies. In Free Look Mode, there's Ammo (Small Health maybe) and a Text Log to find.

McNeill: "Only one way to the bridge now..."

When you try to get into the pipe, the body of the Slasher gets up... You enter the vent, which is incredibly dark so you get the Glow Worm. The voices in your head sing you a nice version of that Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song.

McNeill: "Lexine? Hello?"

You'll have to slash through fleshy walls of Corruption. Behind the second one is a bunch of Babies. You are unable to use your firearms in here, so you'll have to slash them. Upon slashing the third wall, you get sucked out onto some stuff above some fans.

McNeill: "If I don't Stasis it, I'll be chopped to pieces."

In Free Look Mode, you can grab a Recharge if your Stasis is out. See that fan below you? Soon, the fleshy stuff holding you up will break and send you falling into it.

McNeill: "Shit!"

Before that happens, or at least before you reach the fan, use Stasis to slow it down and you'll fall through safely. If not, you'll take a chunk of damage. You land on more fleshy stuff before the next fan. You have Free Look Mode to find Ammo and a Recharge. After that, the material starts to break and drops you into the next fan. Another FLM, another Recharge, then another drop into a fan.

??? (Weller): "McNeill! Over here!"
McNeill: "What?"

You have another Free Look Mode to collect some Ammo down here, or maybe some leftovers above. Your way is blocked by Corruption.

Lexine: "Nate, please hurry... I think I hear something coming..."
McNeill: "Stay in the control room. You'll be safer there. Use Weller's pistol if you have to."
"What's that? There! No, there!"

Stingers will attack you as you head through the tunnels. Some Ammo is scattered about. You'll have to hack through a couple flesh walls.

??? (Weller): "It's coming McNeill... You can't escape it..."
McNeill: "No, I can do this."

Right after this quote is an Audio Log to be found.

Lexine: "Nate, they're dead. I held them off."
McNeill: "Good job. I'm still in the vents. There's some in here, too."
Lexine: "Be careful. I'll see you when you get back."
McNeill: "Whoa, laser tripwires, ADS shells... Seems somebody sure didn't want those things coming down here."

The way is blocked by the wires and you must remove them to proceed. To do so, either shoot at them or use Kinesis to grab those boxes and throw them into the beams. Either way, they detonate. Go through the door. This room has Free Look Mode, where there's Ammo, a Ripper Upgrade, and both Small and Medium Health to grab.

McNeill: "No tram. This'll have to do."

Hit the button to start the cart. There are more laser tripwires along the tunnel. You can't seem to blast them anymore. So instead of boxes, you have artillery shells being dispensed by the machine on the right. However, the cart doesn't stop, so if you don't act quickly, you'll break the beam yourself and get hurt in the blast. If you destroy a mine too late, you'll still get caught in the blast. The cart arrives at a bloody station. In Free Look Mode, you can find Ammo, an Arc Welding Gun and an Arc Welding Gun Upgrade to go with it.

McNeill: "Weller, I need some help. Looks like a bunch of guys tried to make a last stand, and welded shut the door to the security room. How do I get through?"
Lexine: "Nate, he can hardly talk. It's all I can do to keep him awake. You'll have to find another way."
McNeill: "Dammit. All right, McNeill out."

You head through an opening. Another freakout moment is here. Go through the door. There's a Text Log in the vent where a cable busts through. Go through another door. In Free Look Mode, you can find several boxes and Ammo on the right and a Ripper to the left.

Lexine: "Nate, how are you doing?"
McNeill: "Fine. I'm on the bridge deck. The Captain's Nest is just below me."
Lexine: "That's good. Weller's lost a lot of blood... Lexine out."

Notice there's a bunch of exploding canisters around. 3 Airbornes fly up from the stairs. They are followed by a Stinger and 2 Lurkers. They are followed by a Pregnant. Some Airbornes, Slashers, Pregnants, and Exploders gang up on you as you move around. There's a Force Gun along the wall.

???: "I can feel them... All around..."

Okay, just some more Slashers, Exploders, and a Pregnant.

McNeill: "Captain's Nest is this way."

Take the lift down and go into the nest.

McNeill: "Engines... Life support... There."

Another freakout. You'll have to solder up a panel. This one has firewalls, a gate, and 2 flippers by each other.

McNeill: "That should do it... What's going on? Lexine, I need to talk to Weller. How's he doing?"
Lexine: "Hold on."
Weller: "McNeill, some of the cannons are still online."
McNeill: "The shutdown process got aborted halfway."
Weller: "Figures. If one cannon malfunctions, the rest can't be disabled. Must be the trench cannon. We landed near its power array."
McNeill: "Can I disarm it from there?"
Lexine: "Weller's nodding his head. Yes."
McNeill: "Okay Lexine. I'm on my way now. McNeill out."

Go back out, take the lift up, then open the door back on the bridge. A Slasher drops into the elevator.

???: "Better hurry, or Weller's gonna kick your ass!"

Take the elevator down. It malfunctions and stops just below the floor. Uh oh, some Babies are in here. There's a Contact Beam in the room. Open the door. Around the corner is a Text Log and Ammo sitting on the ground. Open the door to face 3 Slashers in the next hall. Enter the door on the right. The unmistakable figure of Lex huddles in the corner.

McNeill: "Lexine?"
Lexine: "Nate, help me..."

She attacks, but it's just another hallucination. After suiting up, you enter Free Look Mode and can grab the Ammo around the room. Head back out and into the elevator. A Pregnant surprises you from behind and quickly strikes. You must be SUPER fast to not get hit by him.

Lexine: "Nate! Weller's out cold! He's breathing, but I can't wake him up!"
McNeill: "See if you can find a medikit in the control room. I'll be back soon, I promise."

Open the door into the airlock. Inside is another Pulse Rifle and Ammo. If you don't already have one, I suggest you take it. Open the other door to enter a 0-G area. You have a choice of destinations, but there's no difference between the first 2 really. Ammo is scattered around the trench.

??? (Lexine): "Nate, don't leave me!"

Ahead, 2 Lurkers fire off shots as you sail through the air, though none will hit. Feel free to grab one to use back. You'll fight them proper when you land. Okay, the next jump has consequence. If you went left first, jumping to the low spot will get you to the same place you'll go if you went right, which makes no real difference, which is this. If you went left first, then took the upper spot, you'll go here.

2 Stingers and Lurkers attack here. Another choice pops up, but it makes no difference.

If you jumped this way, you get to fight 3 Lurkers at once! After that, you get a choice of jumps, but it don't matter.

???: "You're going to kill us all, soldier! We're going to die, and it will all be your fault!"

The spot you land on will be different depending on your route, but there's nothing to do on any spot but jump to the airlock. Go inside to find the cannon firing by itself.

McNeill: "This is it!"

Solder up the controls. There's firewalls, a gate, and a flipper. The gate and flipper are by each other and have different timing. You can wait until the timing for both leads to an opening, or you can hold the connection steady between them.

McNeill: "Got it!"
Lexine: "Nate, are you there yet?"
McNeill: "It's done! I'm on my way back!"
Lexine: "Please hurry! Weller's in really bad shape, and I can't find any painkillers."
McNeill: "I said I'm coming! Just hold on, I'm coming as fast as I can."

Jump back through the trench. The path you take makes no difference

???: "Oh god, help! Help me!"
As you land, another HUGE creature climbs into view and blocks your way.
McNeill: "Ah, what the fuck!?!"

Boss fight! I hope you've got something that travels fast and has range, like the Pulse Rifle. If you have something slower, like the Line Gun, or something with little range, like the Force Gun, this fight is going to be a lot tougher. Some new Ammo has appeared in this area to keep you stocked.

First, the boss attacks with one of its tentacles. Shoot the yellow spot on the underside of the tip to prevent that. It will do this 4 times. Then it extends a VERY long mouth, which will completely trap you. Now, orange balls will appear at random all over the mouth. Shoot them quickly or they burst and spew harmful crap at you. After a few of those, the mouth retreats. Blast the yellow 'lips' as they retreat. Next, an appendage with whole line of balls (who thought up this shit?) will come out. Blast the balls from one end to the other. If you don't destroy a ball, it will pop and spawn a Stinger for you to deal with. The last ball isn't used to spawn enemies; he just smacks you with it. Destroy it too. This reveals a yellow spot on that appendage, so shoot it before he retracts it. The pattern repeats. The more damaged the boss, the less balls he'll have on the appendage part. Just keep up the damage and the boss eventually retreats.

Jump to the airlock and open it. Before you can enter, the boss reappears and shoots some spikes at you. Nate is struck in the arm and it is pinned to the ground.

???: "What are you waiting for, Nate? You know what you have to do..."

The boss won't attack further, but you've got a bigger problem. Your damaged suit will become worthless in 20 seconds, at which point you will DIE. You have to escape before then. You can't free your arm, so time for drastic action. Slash at your arm. After a few swipes, you amputate the trapped limb.

McNeill: "MOTHERFUCKER!"
Freed, Nate manages to get himself into the airlock to safety...
